On July 1, Robinhood, an American financial company, announced the launch of Robinhood Chain, an Ethereum-based Layer 2 blockchain developed to bring stocks, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and other real-world assets on-chain.
What is Robinhood Chain?
According to the official announcement, Robinhood Chain is a permissionless, AI-based, and Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible Layer-2 blockchain network developed on Arbitrum.

Robinhood Chain is the Layer-2 network that will work on top of Ethereum. It is developed to provide strong security while improving the speed of transactions. At the moment, there are various Layer-2 networks present in the blockchain sector, including Polygon, Arbitrum, and others. These Layer-2 networks are known for executing cheap transactions by using the blockchain network.
Behind the project is Robinhood itself, led by CEO Vlad Tenev. The chain is developed under the company’s plan to expand its operations in tokenization, which started in Europe with stock tokens for assets like Apple, Google, and NVIDIA. The blockchain is developed for both retail users and developers. The network rolled out its mainnet on July 1 after its testnet launch in February 2026.
According to the official announcement, Robinhood Chain has many impressive features for U.S. stocks and ETFs. The chain integrates with Robinhood’s app and wallet for self-custody, which allows users to hold their own assets without being dependent on the platform.
In order to attract new users to the blockchain, Robinhood Chain has announced that there will be no gas fees for the first 90 days on main activities like swaps, bridges, and perpetual futures trading. This discount on fees will attract users in more than 120 countries where Robinhood is already present.
Apart from this, Robinhood Chain also includes strong DeFi capabilities, such as a partnership with Uniswap for decentralized trading and Morpho for lending, allowing users to access liquidity and advanced financial tools directly. It uses Ethereum’s security while delivering fast block times of about 100 milliseconds.
Just after the announcement of the launch of Robinhood Chain, many platforms, such as Ethena and Chainlink, have come forward to provide their support for Robinhood’s new initiative.
Ethena stated in the post on X that “We are excited to partner with @RobinhoodCrypto to bring Ethena’s product suite to Robinhood Chain. Ethena has been selected by Steakhouse, the curator of the vault, as the primary collateral asset issuer for Robinhood’s first crypto earn product.”
Gaëtan Thabot, Director of Product, Robinhood Crypto, said, “Robinhood Crypto is building the foundation for the future of investing by delivering secure access to all of our financial products directly onchain, through Robinhood Chain. We chose Chainlink as the oracle provider for Robinhood Chain because its institutional-grade security and reliability are already trusted by the world’s largest financial institutions to scale onchain ecosystems.”
Robinhood Adopts Chainlink to Accelerate Onchain Economy
A major part of the launch is Robinhood’s partnership with Chainlink, which is the leading oracle network. Chainlink is working as the official oracle platform for Robinhood Chain. This will help the chain to fetch reliable price feeds, off-chain data, and cross-chain interoperability.
In the official press release, Chainlink stated that “Without institutional-grade oracle infrastructure, tokenized assets cannot scale or maintain the security required by regulated market participants. Operating as an Ethereum layer-2 network built on Arbitrum’s Orbit technology, Robinhood Chain addresses these inefficiencies with Chainlink by establishing an environment built specifically to unlock advanced onchain finance use cases for everyday Robinhood users.”
This integration is important for real-world assets (RWAs). It provides support for other important features like compliance tools and easy connections between different blockchains.
Thodoris Karakostas, Director of Global Partnerships, Chainlink Labs, stated in the press release, “We’re excited to see Robinhood Chain adopt Chainlink as the official data and cross-chain oracle infrastructure powering Robinhood Chain and unlocking access to the onchain economy for millions of users. This is how the world’s largest financial services apps accelerate the transition to an on-chain financial system powered by Chainlink.”
Last month, OKX also revealed a major integration of Chainlink Data Streams on the mainnet of X Layer, which is its Ethereum Layer-2 network.
