Key Highlights:
- Ethereum staking reaches a record 43.8 million ETH, equal to 35.9% of the total supply, after six consecutive quarters of net inflows.
- BitMine’s staked ETH rises to more than 5.22 million ETH, worth approximately $12.78 billion, following its latest deposit.
- Ethereum’s staking entry queue holds around 1.33 million ETH, compared with 149,000 ETH awaiting exit, while annualized yields average 2.63%.
Ethereum staking has reached a new all-time high with 43.8 million ETH now staked. It represents approximately 35.9% of the cryptocurrency’s total supply.
The milestone marks six consecutive quarters of net inflows as stakeholders continue committing ETH to the network’s proof-of-stake system. Institutional participation is also escalating, with BitMine Immersion Technologies expanding its staking position through another major deposit.
The company’s staked holdings now account for a major share of its Ethereum treasury, emphasizing how staking has become an important part of its digital asset strategy. Meanwhile, the growing entry queue and comparatively smaller exit queue suggest that more ETH holders are currently seeking to stake their tokens than withdraw them.
Why has Ethereum Staking Reached a Record 43.8 Million ETH?
Ethereum’s staked supply has mounted to 43.8 million ETH, equivalent to 35.9% of the total supply. The network has now recorded six consecutive quarters of net staking inflows. It indicates a sustained demand to participate in Ethereum’s proof-of-stake system.
Staking involves depositing ETH to help secure Ethereum and validate transactions. In return, participants can earn rewards, although returns vary with network conditions and staking arrangements.
The latest reported average annualized yield was 2.63%, down from 2.81% in the previous quarter. The plunge demonstrates that staking returns can decrease as participation changes; a larger amount of ETH staked does not automatically translate into higher yields for each participant. Ethereum’s validator landscape has also changed.
The number of active validators declined from approximately 1.1 million to 881,000 subsequent to the Pectra upgrade. This increased the maximum effective balance for validators. This means validator counts alone do not tell the full tale of how much ETH is securing the network.
The staking queues provide another indication of demand. Around 1.33 million ETH is waiting to enter staking, compared with approximately 149,000 ETH waiting to exit. The imbalance points to substantially more ETH seeking entry than withdrawal, although queue sizes can change as deposits and exits are processed.
How Is BitMine Expanding Its Ethereum Staking Strategy?
BitMine Immersion Technologies has continued to increase the ETH amount it commits to staking. Its latest reported deposit involved roughly 159,728 ETH, worth around $390 million at the time, bringing its staked holdings to more than 5.22 million ETH, valued at approximatelly $12.78 billion. The company’s total Ethereum treasury stood at approximately 6.04 million ETH in its October 19 update.
BitMine’s October 19 company announcement reported 5,067,309 ETH staked, worth approximately $12 billion using an ETH valuation of $2,365. The following deposit reported on October 21 increased the estimated staked total to more than 5.22 million ETH.
These figures reflect different reporting times rather than a single simultaneous snapshot. Based on the alleged figures, approximately 86.5% of BitMine’s Ethereum treasury is staked. This makes staking a central part of the company’s approach to holding ETH, rather than simply maintaining an uncommitted token reserve.
BitMine has also developed its Made in America VAlidator Network (MAVAN) to support its own staking activity and serve institutional stakeholders, custodians and ecosystem partners.
In its October 19 announcement, the company projected annualized staking revenue of $309 million based on approximately 5.1 million staked ETH, with potential revenue of $369 million if its holdings were fully staked. These are company projections, not guaranteed returns, and depend on staking levels and reward conditions.
The rise in staking participation and BitMine’s growing position emphasize the role of institutional strategies in Ethereum’s proof-of-stake ecosystem.
However, while staking removes ETH from immediately liquid circulation, it does not guarantee price appreciation or establish a direct price floor. ETH’s market price remains subject to wider market demand, liquidity, and stakeholder sentiment.
