Coinbase Expands Threat Intelligence Sharing With Crypto ISAC
  • Coinbase provides verified threat indicators and patterns to Crypto ISAC members.
  • This integration enables faster detection, prevention, and response to cyberattacks.
  • The exchange promises that no investor data will be shared.

Coinbase and Crypto ISAC have reportedly announced an expanded partnership aimed at strengthening cybersecurity across the crypto industry. Under the new integration, Coinbase will continuously share high-confidence threat intelligence with Crypto ISAC members, helping organizations detect and respond to cyber threats more quickly as attacks become more sophisticated.

The move comes as crypto and traditional finance become more closely connected. Recently, these shared systems and infrastructure have been increasingly targeted by attackers. Thus, Coinbase, in collaboration with the ISAC, intends to tackle these threats, by sharing vetted indicators and risk patterns without exposing customer data.

Coinbase Strengthens Cyber Defense Through ISAC

Today, Coinbase announced a strategic partnership with Crypto ISAC to mitigate the growing cybersecurity threats. With this expanded partnership, Coinbase can continuously share trusted, high-quality threat intelligence with the Crypto ISAC member community.

Reportedly, the data includes unique patterns and indicators from Coinbase, which will help the industry defend against cyberattacks. These increasing threats are basically due to the interconnection between crypto and traditional finance (TradFi), with attackers becoming more interested in the connected space. Coinbase Chief Information Security Officer Jeff Lunglhofer noted,

“As the financial system becomes more interconnected, security has to be collective. By expanding automated threat intelligence sharing with exclusive feeds to Crypto ISAC, we’re helping defenders across crypto and traditional finance act faster on high-confidence indicators to protect customers and critical infrastructure.”

With this integration, Coinbase will provide Crypto ISAC members with verified threat data to help them identify and respond to attacks faster. However, the exchange confirmed that no customer data will be shared.

It is worth noting that the modern financial world is more vulnerable to cybersecurity threats. They grow faster and can target systems worldwide. With its latest move, Coinbase intends to ensure that threat intelligence is shared with Crypto ISAC continuously and automatically. This ensures that the ISAC members receive verified details on time, following which they can act accordingly. This helps security and fraud teams to detect attacks faster, prevent incidents, and respond more effectively.

Crypto ISAC Executive Director Justine Bone stated,

“Threat actors move fast, and defenders have to move faster. This initiative is about continuous, automated sharing so high-confidence intelligence reaches the right teams in time to prevent harm—strengthening resilience across crypto and the wider financial system…Crypto ISAC is built to be a neutral, trusted third-party hub—so organizations can share responsibly and act on intelligence quickly, while safeguarding confidentiality and integrity.”

Here, Crypto ISAC acts as a neutral, trusted hub that safely distributes sensitive intelligence to a vetted community of members. The platform is designed to protect the industry from potential cybersecurity threats.

Coinbase Ads Banned in the UK

It is also worth noting that the development aligns with the recent ban on Coinbase ads in the UK. As reported by The Guardian, the UK’s advertising regulator, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), has banned Coinbase’s advertisement videos that allegedly failed to warn against the inherent risks of crypto investments.

The Financial Conduct Authority has already mandated crypto platforms and other organizations to clearly include warnings against investment risks in ads and promotions. But Coinbase failed to include any such notes.
